Fraudsters have set traps on Instagram as well. Links are sent through direct messages. Often, there are fake links in the name of tempting offers or very familiar websites. Again, many times fraudsters message using Meta's name, threatening to close accounts. Stepping into that trap will cause disaster. If you click on the link, as the fraudsters say or provide any information, your account will fall into the fraudsters' hands. Then, criminals can use your account to defraud others as well.

How does this fraud work?

Suppose you have received an email. Where it is said, you will be asked to log into your Instagram account. A link will be provided for that. As soon as you open it, it will ask for your login ID and password. That's where the danger lies hidden. Fraudsters hack accounts by providing that information on fake websites.
