The latest globally hyped smart glasses from Ray-Ban and Meta, known as “Gen 2,” are officially available in India. It has a starting price of ₹39,900. The launch marks a new era where sunglasses blend with artificial intelligence. This is a great tool for everyday users, from content creators to frequent travellers. This tool lets us enjoy high-tech comfort without sacrificing style.

What Gen 2 brings to the table

The Gen 2 smart glasses come with a 12 MP camera and also capture videos in 3K Ultra HD and photos at high resolution. The glasses are complemented by ultrawide HDR for better clarity and low-light performance.

The updates introduce creative video modes like slow-motion and hyperlapse, which will expand the advantages for vloggers and travellers.

The battery life has been doubled. The users can enjoy up to 8 hours of continuous use per charge. The charging case extends power for an additional 48 hours. Fast charging is also available. It helps the smart glasses reach 50% in about 20 minutes.

The built-in Meta AI assistant now works on Hindi voice commands, therefore making it more accessible to Indian users. It can do all basic tasks like snapping photos, recording video, playing music, and answering quick queries. There’s also an upcoming integration for UPI-Lite payments. This update could allow wearers to pay via QR code just by glancing and speaking.

Gen 2 keeps the iconic Ray-Ban frame styles (Wayfarer, Headliner, Skyler), while adding seasonal colours like Shiny Cosmic Blue, Mystic Violet, and Asteroid Grey.

Who these smart glasses are for

These glasses make the most sense for people who want a mix of utility and style, such as content creators, travel vloggers, urban commuters, or just tech enthusiasts. The ability to shoot 3K video, take hands-free photos, make calls, listen to music, and get information from Meta AI in Hindi is aimed at replacing the habit of carrying a phone in many situations.

The launch of Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 in India has made people step out from the basic idea of glasses to a third eye kind of thing. These glasses represent a new kind of wearable which has equal parts camera, assistant, headset and fashion accessory.
