Whenever people travel, Aadhaar is often required at multiple points. Starting from hotel check-ins, ticket bookings, or at airport counters. Aadhaar cards are requested at various times, and not just at hotels; photocopies of Aadhaar cards are also required at many other places.
According to media sources, the Aadhaar regulatory body UIDAI now wants to implement a system that eliminates the need for Aadhaar photocopies. Instead, the plan is to introduce digital QR-based verification.

For a long time, full photocopies of Aadhaar have been collected at different locations. As a result, sensitive information such as photographs, addresses, and phone numbers gets disclosed. Many users have raised concerns about security, leading to a long-standing demand for alternative arrangements.
How will the new verification system work?
According to reports, UIDAI will ask all verifiers including hotels, airline counters, help desks, and event organisers, to register under the new system. Once registered, they will be able to verify identity through a special QR scan or the Aadhaar app.
Through this process, only identity verification will be carried out. No personal information can be stored or photocopied during verification.

Aadhaar app and future use
The Aadhaar app has been designed to function even when internet connectivity is weak, as it will synchronise with UIDAI’s servers. As a result, there will be no issue even if tourists do not have access to the internet.
It has also been announced that the app will include several additional features. Once this system becomes widely implemented, there will be no need to carry physical Aadhaar cards or their photocopies.
