Following the electoral defeat of Arup Biswas, fresh controversy has resurfaced around the much-discussed Yuva Bharati incident involving Shatadru Dutta. Breaking his prolonged silence, Shatadru has issued a strong warning, claiming he is now prepared to reveal details he had withheld for months due to threats against his family.
Silence, threats, and explosive claims
Taking to social media, Shatadru posted a pointed message alongside a reference to Biswas’s electoral loss, declaring, “Your game is over, this time my game is starting.” While he stopped short of naming individuals directly, his statements strongly hinted at powerful figures linked to the chaos during the event at Yuva Bharati Krirangan.
He alleged that his team was pressured to distribute special access cards to allow certain individuals entry onto the field. When they refused, he claimed they were confined in a room and intimidated. According to him, the situation escalated beyond control, eventually leading to his arrest. Shatadru maintains that he was “framed” and that three years of work went to waste due to the controversy.
Explaining his earlier silence, he revealed that threats were extended not just to him but also to his family. “I was told clearly that if I spoke out, my family would be finished,” he said, adding that fear kept him quiet—until now. He has also warned of a ₹50 crore defamation suit.
Messi's visit fallout and public outrage
The controversy dates back to the December visit of Lionel Messi to Kolkata, an event organised by Shatadru. Despite fans purchasing expensive tickets, many were unable to catch a clear glimpse of the football icon, who remained surrounded by organisers and dignitaries. As Messi exited the stadium, frustration among spectators boiled over, triggering chaos. At the time, Biswas, then serving as the state’s sports minister, faced criticism for allegedly prioritising access for select individuals.
Now, in the aftermath of Biswas’s political setback, Shatadru’s renewed allegations threaten to reopen a contentious chapter—one that could have wider political and legal implications in the days ahead.
