As the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) and its Left Front allies prepare for the upcoming 2026 West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections, senior CPI(M) leader Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya expressed confidence that the party can perform strongly if voters are allowed to exercise their rights freely.

Bhattacharya, who has been nominated as the CPI(M) candidate from Jadavpur, shared his views on the political contest and the importance of a free and fair voting environment.

‘Election will be fiercely contested’

Speaking to Ei Samay, Bhattacharya said that elections are naturally intense contests, but the outcome ultimately depends on whether people are able to vote without fear or obstacles.

Bhattacharya shared, “The election contest will always be intense and fiercely fought; there is no room for any doubt about that. Therefore, if people are able to cast their votes fearlessly and without obstruction, their true opinions will be reflected."

"We hope that people will overcome every kind of obstacle to exercise their rights and express their views freely. If people are able to express their opinions freely, there is no doubt that we will win," he added.
