The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, naming 47 nominees from constituencies across the state. The announcement marks the party's first major step in preparing for the electoral contest as campaigning gathers pace.
According to the list, several prominent state leaders and key party figures have been fielded in important constituencies. K Surendran has been named as the BJP candidate from Manjeshwar, while Navya Haridas will contest from Kozhikode North.
The party has also nominated V Muraleedharan from Kazhakoottam and Adv George Kurian from Kanjirappally. In another key decision, the BJP has fielded state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar from Nemom, a constituency that has previously been seen as one of the party's strongholds in Kerala.
Key constituencies announced in the first list
The candidate list released by the party includes nominees from several constituencies in northern and central Kerala. Among those announced are K Surendran (Manjeshwar), Manulal Meloth (Udma), Balraj M (Kanhangad), AP Gangadharan (Payyannur), KK Vinod Kumar (Azhikode), and C Raghunath (Kannur).
Other candidates named include P Shyam Raj (Mananthavady – ST), Kavitha AS (Sulthanbathery – ST), Adv K Dileep (Vadakara), Ramadas Manaleri (Kuttiadi), CP Vipin Chandran (Nadapuram), CR Praphul Krishnan (Quilandy), and M Mohanan Master (Perambra).
The list reflects the party's attempt to field both experienced leaders and new faces across constituencies as it looks to expand its presence in the state's political landscape.
First step in BJP's election preparations
The release of the first candidate list signals the start of the BJP's formal campaign strategy for the Kerala Assembly elections. More names are expected to be announced in the coming weeks as the party finalises candidates for the remaining constituencies.
With nominations now beginning to take shape, political parties across the state are gradually intensifying their preparations for the upcoming electoral contest.
