Department-wise breakdown: Here's a look at who got what in Bengal’s Rs 4.06 lakh crore Budget

The West Bengal government tabled a Rs 4.06 lakh crore interim Budget for the 2026-27 fiscal in the state Assembly on Thursday. Tabling the Budget, the state rolled out cash support and allowance hike measures for women, youths and frontline workers ahead of the Assembly elections.

Some of the key highlights of the Budget include proposing an addition of Rs 500 per month for women beneficiaries under the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme. Following the hike, women beneficiaries under the General Category will receive ₹1,500 per month, while those belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will receive ₹1,700 per month. Over 2 crore women are already beneficiaries. An additional 20.62 lakh women have been included.

State Finance minister Chandrima Bhattacharya also proposed an increase in dearness allowance for Bengal government staffers by 4 per cent, among several other welfare measures.

Disaster Management & Civil Defence: Rs 3,119.99 crore

Environment: Rs 108.62 crore

Fire and Emergency Services: Rs 541.59 crore
