To ensure that people from marginalized communities are not neglected in any way during the SIR process, the commission has already taken special initiatives. Sex workers living in various red-light areas of Kolkata and the state had been suffering from enumeration form-related problems for a long time. In this regard, a special camp for enumeration forms was organized by the commission on Tuesday in Sonagachi under the 166-Shyampukur assembly constituency.

Two camps were set up – one in ward number 18 of that assembly constituency and another in ward number 26. Present at the day's camp were the state's CEO Manojkumar Agarwal himself along with senior officials from the state CEO's office. They received a good response at the special camp. The commission reported that 803 people came to the special camp that day. Among them, 210 people took form number 6, 51 people took form number 8, and 12 people filled up and submitted enumeration forms. The rest presented their enumeration form-related problems before the commission officials.

And now, similar special camps are going to be held in the red-light areas of Khidirpur and Kalighat under the South Kolkata electoral district. On Tuesday, the state's Chief Electoral Officer Manojkumar Agarwal announced that the DEO of South Kolkata has been instructed to make necessary arrangements for the special camp on Wednesday.

It may be noted that sex workers are facing multiple problems – sometimes lack of linkage with the 2002 SIR list, sometimes difficulties in providing family information. To resolve these problems, the commission is taking this special initiative. The commission's clear message is that no eligible voter's name should be excluded from the voter list in any way. The state's CEO also conveyed the same message when he was present in Sonagachi that day. Therefore, the commission has become active to ensure that sex workers are not ostracized from the list of eligible voters in any way.
