Kolkata Metro to run extra services on Blue and Green lines on four Sundays in January

Kolkata Metro to operate additional services on Blue and Green Lines on four Sundays in January to ease commuter travel.

Kolkata Metro commuters have a reason to cheer this month. On four consecutive Sundays: January 4, 11, 18, and 25, the metro will run additional services on the Blue and Green Lines to cater to the growing passenger demand.

Blue Line

The Blue Line will see a boost from the usual 130 services to 160 services (80 UP + 80 DOWN) on these Sundays.

The first services remain unchanged:

Dakshineswar to Shahid Khudiram at 9:00 AM,

Shahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar at 9:00 AM

Noapara to Shahid Khudiram at 9:00 AM.

The last services have minor adjustments:

Dakshineswar to Shahid Khudiram at 9:33 PM,

Shahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar at 9:33 PM (three minutes later than usual)

Shahid Khudiram to Dum Dum at 9:44 PM (one-minute delay).

Metro frequency will also improve during peak evening hours, with trains running every 8 minutes instead of the regular 10 minutes between 3:20 PM and 7:20 PM.

Green Line

On the Green Line, services will increase from the usual 108 to 124 (62 UP + 62 DOWN).

First services include:

Salt Lake Sector V to Howrah Maidan at 9:02 AM

Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V at 9:00 AM

City Centre to Howrah Maidan at 9:00 AM.

Last services are scheduled at:

Salt Lake Sector V to Howrah Maidan at 9:55 PM

Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V at 9:55 PM

Howrah Maidan to Central Park at 10:05 PM.

Evening frequency on the Green Line will improve to one train every 10 minutes instead of 15 minutes, from 4:02 PM to 8:30 PM on these Sundays.

However, the Yellow Line will continue its normal service throughout these Sundays. As usual, the Orange and Purple Lines will remain closed.
