Kolkata Police maintained strict law and order across the city on New Year's Eve. Multiple checkpoints were set up, and police forces were deployed at key locations to manage crowds and ensure public safety. On January 1, Kolkata Police announced that a total of 263 people were arrested during the New Year celebrations on the night of December 31. The police also released details on the reasons for arrests, the number of people apprehended for each offence, and the quantity of contraband seized.
A total of 4 kg of firecrackers and 16.95 litres of illegal liquor were recovered by authorities during the operations.

Traffic violations and enforcement
Kolkata Police closely monitored traffic across the city on New Year's Eve. Several cases were filed against motorists for violating traffic laws while driving cars and motorcycles. A total of 1,301 traffic violations were recorded, including:
Triple riding: 235
Riding without a helmet: 480
Rash driving: 178
Drunk driving: 149
Other violations: 259
