Many people in West Bengal are also grieving the death of Khaleda Zia, Bangladesh's first and the world's second woman Prime Minister. She had close ties with West Bengal and India and was born in Jalpaiguri. The Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata has decided to open a condolence book to allow people to pay their respects to Khaleda Zia, and the timings have been announced.

The condolence book programme
The condolence book can be signed at the following times:
Wednesday, 21 December: 3 PM to 5 PM
Thursday, 1 January: 10 AM to 12 PM
Friday, 2 January: 10 AM to 12 PM
Monday, 5 January: 10 AM to 12 PM
In addition, an e-condolence or digital condolence book has been launched. Messages can be sent to mission.kolkata@mofa.gov.bd.

Khaleda Zia's demise
Khaleda Zia had been suffering from several health issues for a long time, including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, liver cirrhosis, and kidney complications. On the night of November 23, she was admitted to a hospital in Dhaka. Following multiple medical examinations, doctors reported that infections had spread to her heart and lungs. She had been undergoing treatment there for over a month and passed away on Tuesday morning.
