After days of intense heat and sticky weather, several districts in South Bengal finally received much-needed relief as thunderstorms and rain brought temperatures across the region. The change in weather, triggered by nor'wester storm conditions, has made evenings more pleasant for now. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that this comfort may not last long.

According to the weather office, temperatures in parts of South Bengal could fall by another 2 to 3 degrees Celsius by Saturday. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are expected to continue over the next few days before conditions gradually turn humid again from Sunday onward.

North Bengal to see gradual decline in rainfall

Light thunderstorms and rain are likely across most districts on Friday as well. From Saturday and Sunday, rainfall activity is expected to decrease further. Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar may continue to receive isolated light rain and thunderstorms at a few places.
