A woman was allegedly murdered by her husband over her extramarital affairs, and the accused later confessed the incident to his mother. The incident took place on Thursday night in Ghatakpukur, South 24 Parganas.
According to police sources, the deceased has been identified as Moumita Naskar, and her husband is Debashis Naskar. The couple also has a daughter. Family members claimed that Moumita had multiple extramarital relationships after marriage. Despite changing homes several times and attempts at reconciliation, frequent quarrels continued between the couple.
A few days ago, a major argument broke out over the matter, leading to a complaint being filed with the police. Moumita then left for her parental home in Ghutiary Sharif. Eventually, the couple settled their differences, and Moumita returned to their rented home in the Khalpar area of Ghatakpukur.

However, family members alleged that even after returning home, Moumita’s behaviour did not change, resulting in regular conflicts. On Thursday, the fight escalated again. It is alleged that Moumita physically assaulted Debashis during the altercation. Losing control of his anger, Debashis allegedly killed her. He later revealed everything to his mother, who informed the neighbours. The neighbours then alerted the police.
Police arrested Debashis and recovered the body from a canal in Ghatakpukur. The body has been sent for post-mortem. An investigation is underway.
