At 32, Biraj Biswas has entered Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s Council of Ministers as its youngest member. He was among 35 new ministers sworn in by Governor R N Ravi at Lok Bhavan on Monday, marking a notable addition to the state cabinet line-up.
Biswas was elected MLA from Karandighi in North Bengal’s Uttar Dinajpur district after defeating Trinamool Congress candidate Gautam Pal by nearly 20,000 votes in the April assembly election.
The Indian Express described him as a lawyer and former ABVP leader who began his political journey in the student wing of the RSS, where he rose from state secretary to all-India secretary.

Listening to PM Modi's latest advice, this is a youthful BJP MLA Biraj Biswas travelling in Metro to the Legislative Assembly. There's not even a 1% of arrogance here. A weighty brief for youthful shoulders
Speaking to The Indian Express after the oath-taking, Biswas said serving the state and his constituency was “a huge responsibility.”
He said he plans to focus on four areas: healthcare, law and order, education and infrastructure. He also said that with monsoon approaching, the relevant departments were already reviewing preparedness, while he was pressing for dredging of rivers in his constituency and faster work on roads.

She recalled that he had spoken since his student days about staying active in politics while continuing his studies seriously.
He is a practising lawyer at the Calcutta High Court and first came into the political spotlight during protests linked to the Daribhit High School violence in 2018.
