Migrant workers will not have to return to other states for work: this was the message from Trinamool All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday from a meeting at Jalangir in Mangalbari gram panchayet under old Malda police station.
At the same time, he raised his voice, claiming that the BJP has made 'deals' with other political parties. Abhishek held a meeting regarding migrant workers in Malda on this day. Trinamool has become vocal over allegations that migrant workers from West Bengal are being branded as Bangladeshis for speaking Bengali in other states.
On this day, Abhishek listened to the problems of migrant workers directly from them. At the same time, he targeted the Centre. He also gave a message of communal harmony while criticising the preparation to build a 'Babri Masjid' in the neighbouring district.

Bharatpur MLA Humayun Kabir has announced the construction of a 'Babri Masjid' in Murshidabad. For this reason, he was suspended from Trinamool. On this day, Abhishek targeted Humayun without naming him. He said, "Other political parties have made deals with the BJP. You will understand how they have made deals in the coming days. The person who was a BJP candidate in 2019 is building a Babri Masjid. He is creating division in the name of religion and taking some money from the middle by fooling people. Don't give even a penny. Help the poor people. It is written in the Quran."
It may be noted that Humayun contested from the Jangipur seat on a BJP ticket in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. But he was defeated. The Joraphul camp had become vocal only after Humayun's decision to build the 'Babri Masjid'. They stated that it was all happening at the instigation of the saffron camp. However, the BJP had dismissed that claim. Political circles consider Abhishek's targeting of the Bharatpur MLA without naming him on Thursday and giving a message of communal harmony to be highly significant.
On this day, Abhishek opened the 'Ek Dake Abhishek' helpline number for migrant workers of Malda.

This number is operational in his parliamentary constituency, Diamond Harbour. Abhishek Banerjee said, "Malda is also part of my extended family. Legal assistance will be provided if any migrant worker is branded as Bangladeshi."
Along with this, the Trinamool MP also gave the assurance from the day's platform that migrant workers will no longer have to go to other states for work.
Political circles claim that there are many migrant workers in Malda and Murshidabad districts. Abhishek's assurance for them could be a 'game changer' for Trinamool in the concerned districts in the upcoming elections. He directly targeted the BJP on the migrant worker issue. Abhishek alleged from the day's meeting that Khagen Murmu and Sukanta Bhattacharya did not help migrant workers from their own parliamentary constituencies.
Standing in Malda, Abhishek gave a message of communal harmony. He also raised the allegation that the BJP wants to do politics with religion. Abhishek's comment, "When there is any problem at home at 1 AM, when there is illness, when the head is injured, do we ask the religion of the ambulance driver who comes? Do we ask the religion of farmers, fish sellers, those who set up stages, and sell flowers? The BJP creates division. Trinamool is a symbol of communal harmony."
Abhishek promised to hold a public meeting in Malda in the first week of February. The Trinamool All India General Secretary has given the message of holding a counter-meeting at the same ground where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold his meeting.
