Iranian Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi may visit India for a two-day trip amid Iran's turbulent situation. According to sources, if everything goes smoothly, Araghchi is likely to arrive in India next week. He may come to Delhi on January 15-16. Notably, this will be Araghchi's second visit to India. He had previously visited India in May 2025.
What could be discussed during this second visit?
Iran has been turbulent for the past week. People there have taken to the streets in anti-government protests. According to information from Iran's volunteer organization HRAI, 990 people have been arrested so far in these incidents. Twenty people have died. Araghchi may discuss this turbulent situation with India's top local leaders.

Besides this, international experts suggest that discussions may also cover various issues related to Chabahar port operations, as well as how commercial and political relations between the two countries can be maintained.
However, Iran's biggest headache now is quelling the growing protests within the country, rather than improving bilateral commercial or political relations with India. US President Donald Trump has already warned that America will not hesitate to attack Tehran if Iran's government kills any innocent people. America has already raided Venezuela and arrested President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores on drug trafficking charges. Consequently, Tehran also fears a US attack.
