US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that he has directed federal law enforcement to help in the search for "Today" show anchor Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy Guthrie, who was likely abducted from her Tucson home while she was sleeping.
In his Truth Social post, Trump said, "I spoke with Savannah Guthrie, and let her know that I am directing ALL Federal Law Enforcement to be at the family's, and Local Law Enforcement's, complete disposal, IMMEDIATELY. We are deploying all resources to get her mother home safely. The prayers of our Nation are with her and her family. GOD BLESS AND PROTECT NANCY!"

The incident
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reported missing over the weekend after she didn't show up to church Sunday morning near her home outside of Tucson, Arizona.
Her family last saw her Saturday night at about 9.30 pm MST when they dropped her off after dinner. The next morning, when she did not attend Sunday service, a church member notified her family, who then searched her home and called the police.
According to a report by The Hill, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, whose team is working with the FBI on the investigation, stated that officials believe Guthrie was taken from her home against her will in a possible kidnapping.
Nancy Guthrie does not have dementia and has full cognitive function, according to the sheriff. However, she has physical limitations and cannot walk more than 50 yards on her own. The TV anchor's mother also takes daily medication that could be life-threatening to miss, according to the report by The Hill.

Trump reaches out to Savannah Guthrie
Trump previously contacted Savannah to offer support during the search for her mother. The US President expressed sympathy for the family and promised to use all available federal resources in the investigation, according to NBC News.
"I think it's a terrible thing. I always got along very good with Savannah. Very unusual situation but we're going to find out," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office after signing legislation to end a partial government shutdown, according to The Hill.
When asked on Tuesday if he would send more federal agents to help in the search for Nancy Guthrie, Trump said, "Sure."
Meanwhile, the Pima County Sheriff's Department in a statement on X on February 4 said that "no suspect or person of interest has been identified at this time".
