Elon Musk has entered uncharted territory in global wealth rankings, becoming the first person in history to cross the $1 trillion net worth mark following the highly anticipated public listing of SpaceX.
The milestone came after SpaceX launched its Initial Public Offering (IPO), raising more than $75 billion and significantly boosting the value of Musk's holdings in the company. Based on public disclosures and wealth estimates, Musk's fortune is now believed to have exceeded $1 trillion, placing him far ahead of every other individual on global rich lists, reported Fortune India.
SpaceX stake drives historic wealth surge
A large portion of Musk's wealth is linked to his ownership stake in SpaceX, which is estimated to be worth around $866 billion. When combined with his holdings in Tesla and other ventures, Reuters calculations based on company filings project his net worth at more than $1.1 trillion once SpaceX shares begin trading on Friday.

Investors have continued to back Musk's ventures, largely because of his track record of transforming ambitious ideas into successful businesses. Market analysts say this confidence has contributed to a premium valuation for companies associated with the entrepreneur.
From Tesla to social media influence
Musk's business empire extends beyond electric vehicles and space exploration. After building Tesla and SpaceX into some of the world's most valuable companies, he acquired Twitter in a $44-billion deal in 2022.
The takeover gave him a direct communication platform with hundreds of millions of users and expanded his influence on discussions surrounding politics, immigration, government spending and free speech.
Apart from Tesla and SpaceX, Musk has co-founded several other ventures, including tunnelling company The Boring Company and brain-chip developer Neuralink.
Far ahead of every other billionaire
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk was already the world's richest person before the SpaceX IPO, with an estimated fortune of around $971 billion.
By comparison, the second-richest individual, Larry Page, had an estimated net worth of about $304 billion. The gap means Musk's wealth is more than three times that of his closest rival.

Wealth larger than some national economies
Musk's fortune now exceeds the annual economic output of several countries. According to International Monetary Fund estimates, Taiwan's GDP stands at roughly $976.7 billion, placing Musk's personal wealth above the size of the island's economy.
His net worth is also equivalent to nearly a quarter of India's estimated $4.15 trillion economy, highlighting the unprecedented scale of his fortune.
