The Kennedy Center in central Washington, DC, has been officially renamed as 'The Trump-Kennedy Center' to ‘honour' President Donald Trump's 'unbelievable work' to save the building, the White House said on Thursday.
What did the White House say?
"I have just been informed that the highly respected Board of the Kennedy Center, some of the most successful people from all parts of the world, have just voted unanimously to rename the Kennedy Center to the Trump-Kennedy Center, because of the unbelievable work President Trump has done over the last year in saving the building. Not only from the standpoint of its reconstruction, but also financially, and its reputation," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt posted on X, announcing the change of name. She added, "Congratulations to President Donald J. Trump, and likewise, congratulations to President Kennedy, because this will be a truly great team long into the future! The building will no doubt attain new levels of success and grandeur."

According to AP, Roma Daravi, a spokesperson for the center, said the board unanimously voted to adopt the new name: The Donald J. Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts.
Earlier this month, he mentioned a "big event" at the "Trump Kennedy Center" before correcting himself to say "the Kennedy Center." He was referring to the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw, in which he took part along with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Hindustan Times reported.

The Kennedy Center board
Shortly after taking office, Trump dismissed all members of the center's board and replaced them with allies, who later voted to make him chairman. His close adviser, Richard Grenell, was appointed board president. Along with him, Attorney General Pam Bondi, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Second Lady Usha Vance, and several other administration officials and political allies are also members of the board, BBC reported.
