Rhode Island in America has been in turmoil since the gunman's attack at Brown University that left 2 dead and 8 seriously injured. The attacker had fired indiscriminately and fled. Finally, police recovered his body from a warehouse in New Hampshire. In a preliminary investigation, police suspect the attacker committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.
Police said the dead attacker's name was Claudio Neves Valente (48). He was a former student of Brown University. Police learned that Claudio was actually a Portuguese citizen. After coming to America, he lived in Miami. However, why Claudio attacked his old university is still not clear.

Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez said, "The accused's body was recovered on Thursday evening. Preliminary investigation suggests suicide. The incident is under investigation. Detailed information will be known later."
The Associated Press reported that the accused attacked the university last Saturday during examinations. Two people died in indiscriminate firing inside the engineering building. Eight people were seriously injured. The campus was locked down immediately after the incident. Shelter in place was declared throughout the area. The search for the gunman began after that.
Last Wednesday, police held a press conference about the killings at Brown University. At that time, a person came forward and gave the police some information about the attacker. Following that lead, the suspect's identity and car details were found. Finally, after five days, the police recovered his body. Valente had changed the car's license plate to hide his identity.
Brown University President Christina Paxson said Valente had enrolled in a postgraduate course in physics in 2000. However, he left the university in 2001. Currently, he has no connection with the university.

Two days after the shooting at Brown University, MIT professor Nuno FG Loureiro was shot and killed. Valente is suspected of being involved in that murder. Police have started an investigation into that as well. Notably, Loureiro had joined as head of MIT's Plasma Science and Fusion Centre in 2016. As a teacher and researcher, he was very popular among students and faculty. His work on fusion energy had earned praise in critical circles as well.
