Was there a conspiracy to cause an accident involving the Agniveena Express? The Bangladeshi train derailed on Monday morning, though a major tragedy was averted due to its low speed. No casualties were reported.
What caused the derailment?
Preliminary reports suggest that miscreants may have tampered with the railway track by disconnecting the joints and removing a nearly 20-foot-long section, placing it about five feet away from the main line. This act is believed to have caused the derailment, raising serious questions about who may have been behind the attempted sabotage. Police have launched an investigation.

The incident occurred at around 5:20 AM near the outer point of Gafargaon railway station. Approximately one kilometre north of the station, two coaches of the Agniveena Express derailed. As the train was moving at a very low speed while entering the station area, a major accident was avoided. However, panic spread among passengers after a detached section of track was found lying beside the rail line.

Attempts at sabotage?
According to police, officials from the railway department and law enforcement agencies inspected the site soon after the incident. Their preliminary assessment points towards deliberate sabotage. At a time when Bangladesh is already facing unrest on multiple fronts, such incidents have heightened public anxiety.
Railway authorities have since begun repair work on the damaged track. Train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route were suspended for several hours, causing significant inconvenience to passengers.
