Delhi Police has begun the process of revoking the passports of several wanted gangsters believed to be operating from abroad as part of a wider crackdown on organised crime networks. According to reports, authorities have also identified multiple fugitives for possible extradition to India.

The move is being viewed as part of an intensified campaign against criminal syndicates allegedly linked to extortion, gang violence, targeted killings, and international organised crime operations.

Major crackdown on overseas gang networks

Reports stated that Delhi Police has approached the Ministry of External Affairs seeking cancellation of passports belonging to several alleged gangsters currently based in countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the UAE.

According to the reports of NDTV, authorities reportedly believe revoking passports could restrict the movement of these fugitives and strengthen efforts to bring them back to India through legal and diplomatic channels.

The crackdown comes amid growing concerns over criminal networks allegedly being operated remotely from foreign countries while targeting individuals and businesses in India.

Who’s on the radar?

According to reports of News18, several high-profile names linked to organised crime networks have surfaced during the investigation. These individuals are allegedly wanted in cases related to extortion, murder conspiracies, gang rivalries, shootings, and organised criminal activities.

Some of the accused have also reportedly been linked to transnational crime syndicates and gang operations extending across multiple countries.

Reports of News18 further stated that law enforcement agencies are coordinating with international authorities and using legal channels, including Red Corner Notices and extradition requests in certain cases.

Focus on extradition efforts

Apart from passport cancellation, authorities are also focusing on identifying fugitives who could potentially be extradited to India. Officials believe restricting international movement may improve the chances of securing cooperation from foreign governments.

The development follows broader anti-gang operations carried out earlier this year targeting organised crime networks across northern India. Reports noted that several coordinated crackdowns have already led to hundreds of arrests and weapon recoveries.
