Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the viral Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), said on Friday that he had lost access to his Instagram account after it was allegedly hacked. He also claimed that the party’s backup Instagram account was taken down by Meta.
Dipke shared the update through a post on X, where he wrote that his Instagram account “has been hacked”. In another post directed at Meta, he said, “@Meta, I have lost access to my Instagram account. Trying to recover it but unable to”.
Meta has not yet issued any statement regarding the matter.

Backup account also taken down
Dipke later posted that the backup Instagram account of the Cockroach Janta Party had also been removed. The party’s official Instagram account reportedly has more than 21 million followers.
The development comes just a day after the party’s X account was withheld in India. Users visiting the handle CJP_2029 are now seeing a notice that reads: “@CJP_2029 has been withheld in IN in response to a legal demand.”

How the Cockroach Janta Party went viral
The Cockroach Janta Party emerged online shortly after Chief Justice of India Surya Kant’s remarks on May 15, in which the terms “parasites” and “cockroaches” were mentioned. The party was formed the next day and quickly gained traction on social media.

Support for the CJP spread rapidly, with politicians, activists, artists and young social media users engaging with the campaign online.
The controversy grew further even after the Chief Justice later clarified that he had been misquoted. He said his comments were specifically aimed at people entering the legal profession using “fake and bogus degrees”.
Despite the clarification, the CJP continued to attract attention online after adopting the cockroach as its political symbol.
