Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone has announced that Mundra Port has become India’s largest automobile export hub, marking a major milestone for the country’s growing presence in global vehicle trade. The port recently set a national record by exporting 6,008 cars in a single vessel, underlining its rising importance as a key gateway for automobile shipments.

Record shipment boosts Mundra’s position

Located in Mundra, the port has emerged as a major export centre for vehicles, with its roll-on roll-off terminal handling shipments to more than 100 countries.

This achievement reflects the increasing demand for Indian-made vehicles across global markets. Passenger vehicles, two-wheelers and commercial vehicles manufactured in India are being shipped to regions such as Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and parts of Europe. The RoRo terminal at Mundra has played a key role in this growth by enabling efficient and large-scale movement of vehicles, helping automakers reach international buyers faster and more reliably.

Growth momentum and future targets

The milestone also comes at a time when APSEZ is witnessing rapid growth in its overall cargo operations. Chairman Gautam Adani recently highlighted the company’s ambitious target of handling one billion tonnes of cargo by 2030. He noted that the company’s expansion has accelerated significantly over the years. While it took 16 years to reach the first 100 million tonnes of cargo, subsequent milestones were achieved at a much faster pace, showing strong growth momentum.

With demand for Indian vehicles continuing to rise, developments like this are expected to further strengthen India’s role as a key player in the international automobile market.
