Chandranath Rath, Suvendu Adhikari’s personal assistant, someone who was responsible for his election backend work, was shot dead on Wednesday in Madhyamgram, in North 24 Parganas district near Kolkata.
As per a report by NDTV, he was shot 3 times. He was rushed to Diversity Nursing Home, where he succumbed to bullet injuries.

He was in a car when the assailants opened fire. Tension broke out in North 24 Parganas after the attack and Rath suffered injuries to the head and chest.

Rath had been managing Adhikari’s campaign from Bhabanipur. No clear motive has been established.
Rath has been identified primarily through his role with Adhikari rather than through any broader public profile.

Who was Chandranath Rath?
Chandranath Rath is the personal assistant of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, a role through which he had taken on significant responsibility; most notably managing Adhikari's election campaign from Bhabanipur and handling the backend operations of his electoral work. Beyond that association, Rath did not carry a broad public profile.
The killing comes two days after the BJP's historic win in the state assembly election, raising fresh concern over the post-poll atmosphere in West Bengal.
