Dhurandhar 2 has changed the box office game by becoming a rare Bollywood film with true pan-India success. With over ₹1100 crore collected in India, it has performed strongly in both north and south markets.

Directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, the sequel has gone beyond expectations, especially in southern states where Hindi films usually struggle to perform well.

How did Dhurandhar 2 achieve massive success in the south

According to a Hindustan Times report, Dhurandhar 2 collected around ₹250 crore net in the southern states, marking a major achievement for a Hindi film. In Karnataka alone, it earned over ₹125 crore, setting new benchmarks. In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the film grossed around ₹80 crore, even outperforming Prabhas’ film The Raja Saab in the region.

What makes Dhurandhar 2 a true pan-India hit

Unlike many South films that depend on dubbed versions for success in the north, Dhurandhar 2 performed well in both its original Hindi version and dubbed formats. Urban audiences in southern metros played a major role, while dubbed versions helped the film reach a wider audience.

Comparison with south blockbusters

According to a Hindustan Times report, films like Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, KGF: Chapter 2, and RRR crossed ₹1000 crore largely due to strong Hindi dubbed versions. In contrast, Dhurandhar 2’s success came from its acceptance as a Hindi film in southern territories, making its performance unique.

How has Bollywood’s pan-India journey evolved

Earlier Bollywood films like Sholay, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and Mughal-e-Azam enjoyed nationwide success before the term “pan-India” became popular. However, the rise of regional cinema stars and industries reduced Bollywood’s reach, making Dhurandhar 2’s success even more significant.

Dhurandhar 2 earned over ₹1100 crore in India, including around ₹250 crore from southern states, indicating strong performance across regions. The film recorded significant collections in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, where Hindi films usually have limited reach.

Its performance included both original Hindi screenings and dubbed versions, contributing to its reach across different audiences. The film’s box office run adds to recent instances of Hindi films targeting wider national markets.
