In the aftermath of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election, concerns over law and order have emerged as multiple incidents of post-poll violence have been reported across various districts. Amid these developments, political parties are urging restraint and calling for a swift restoration of peace and public safety in the state.
In a press release shared on social media, the BJP alleged that groups linked to the Trinamool Congress were attempting to mislead the public by impersonating BJP supporters and engaging in disruptive activities. The party asserted that these actions were aimed at tarnishing the BJP’s reputation during the sensitive post-election period.

BJP warns of strict legal action
The statement asserted that the BJP would maintain “zero tolerance” towards violence, intimidation and political “masquerading.” The party warned that anyone found engaging in impersonation, threatening citizens or taking the law into their own hands would face strict legal consequences.
According to the release, the “full force of law” would be used against those involved in criminal activities. The BJP also attempted to reassure citizens that the incoming administration would prioritise the restoration of law and order across the state.
Focus on governance and accountability
The party further stated that the people of Bengal had delivered a “decisive mandate for change” and that the era of alleged criminality in governance had come to an end. The BJP said its government would focus on accountability, protection of citizens and governance without “fear or favour.”
