Tensions have escalated sharply in West Bengal following the killing of Chandranath Rath, personal aide to senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, in what is being viewed as part of a wave of post-poll unrest. According to initial reports, the victim named Chandranath Rath was identified as Adhikari’s personal assistant, was shot dead under circumstances that point to targeted violence. The Trinamool Congress leadership has questioned the legitimacy of the results, alleging irregularities and claiming that a significant number of seats were “stolen”. Mamata Banerjee has publicly rejected the verdict, stating she will not step down and alleging manipulation of voting processes.
