January 2026 is shaping up to be the month with a lot of bank holidays, with a total of 10 days when banks will remain closed. However, it’s important to note that bank holidays in India are state-specific, so the exact number of closed days can vary depending on your location. While some holidays are observed nationwide, many are restricted to certain states, meaning banks in one city may remain open even when others are closed.
Banks remain closed not only on Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of every month but also on specific holidays observed by the Reserve Bank of India and various states. Knowing these dates can help you schedule payments, fund transfers, and other banking tasks without last-minute hassle.
