On Tuesday, the Adani Group announced that it will be investing $100 billion in India to build data centres for artificial intelligence (AI), The Economic Times reported. These centres will be built by 2035 and will be powered by renewable energy.
Adani Group to build data centres
The company stated in an announcement that the investment will be expected to generate an $150 billion in related industries within the same time frame. It also said that the investment from the Adani Group is being made with the aim of making India a leader in the field of AI. The company will be working towards creating the necessary energy and computing platforms to achieve this goal.

The related industries that will benefit from the new data centers include server manufacturing, electrical systems, and cloud platforms. The company mentioned that all of it put together will create $250 billion worth of AI infrastructure in the country over the next decade, ET reported.
'India will not be a mere consumer': Gautam Adani
Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani has said that countries that control both energy and computing will be leading in the future.
Gautam Adani said, "At Adani, we are building on our foundation in data centres and green energy to expand into the complete five-layer AI stack focused on India's technological sovereignty. India will not be a mere consumer in the AI age."

AdaniConnex currently operates a 2 GW data centre. The company aims to reach a target of 5 GW. The company is actively engaged with Google to build a large AI data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, as per ET.
The Adani Group has partnerships with Microsoft in Hyderabad and Pune. The company will also be expanding its data centre collaboration with Flipkart in order to support e-commerce and AI demands.
