EPF (Employees' Provident Fund) subscribers often need to make corrections to information in their profiles. Details like name, date of birth, marital status, or nationality may require changes. If certain conditions are met, these corrections can be made easily online. The step-by-step process for what changes are possible and how is explained below.

What information can be changed without uploading documents?

According to EPFO rules, if specific conditions are met, name, nationality, parents' names, marital status, date of joining service, and date of leaving service can be changed without uploading documents.

Is it possible to change nationality?

According to EPFO's latest guidelines, nationality can only be changed in two cases. First, if the nationality field is blank and you want to add 'Indian' there. Second, if you want to change from 'Indian' to 'International' nationality.

Under what conditions can these changes be made without documents?

This facility will be available only if the UAN (Universal Account Number) was activated before October 1, 2017, and is verified with Aadhaar.

What happens if the UAN was active before October 1, 2017?

If the UAN was activated before that date, then changes can be made to the profile once the Joint Declaration receives employer approval.

What to do if UAN is not linked with Aadhaar or if there is no UAN?

In this case, the Joint Declaration must be submitted to the employer. The employer will upload it to EPFO through their own account. After that, the documents will reach the EPFO office.

What to do if the organization is permanently closed?

If the organization is permanently closed, then the Joint Declaration must have the signature of a Gazetted Officer, Notary Public, Member of Parliament, Postmaster, or Village Panchayat Head. That declaration must be submitted directly to the EPFO office along with the necessary documents.
