The teaser for upcoming film 'Toxic: A fairy Tale for Grown-Ups' dropped on January 8 and has since sparked a major discussion online.

The teaser depicts a sexual encounter between Yash's character as Raya and an unnamed female inside a car as violence erupts outside. This scene ignited talks about violence and objectification.

Filmmaker speaks

Breaking her silence over the so-called controversial scene, filmmaker Geetu Mohandas posted a cryptic message on Instagram.

"Chilling while people figure out female pleasure, consent, women playing systems, etc etc (sic)," she wrote.

Who is the female character?

Later, Geetu Mohandas revealed the identity of the female character. Sharing a picture of Beatriz Bach, she said, "This beauty is my cemetery girl."

The criticism

However, despite this clarification, people were not convinced and kept criticising on her post as well.

One person wrote, "Calling it “consensual” is a reach. The scene is clearly meant to establish the character. She’s merely used as a weapon! It’s not even just objectifying! It’s something more disgusting & sick!"

Another said, "The scene is celebrating peak masculinity through objectifying women as a sex toy. I once respected WCC, but this is hypocrism."

"I think it's high time that people in india starts talking about this. This is offensive for a mainstream movie with such an highly influential actor in picture. They shouldn't objectify women like this," wrote one user.
