A woman has confessed to carrying out the murder of her husband to claim insurance money, which is over Rs 2 crore, in Telangana’s Nizamabad district. The police mentioned the accused, Soumya, plotted the killing with her lover and hired a contract killer. The alleged involved attempted to stage the murder as a heart attack.

Who is involved?

According to NDTV, the victim, identified as Palnati Ramesh and a resident of Borgam (K) village in Makloor mandal, had been married to Soumya for nearly 13 years.

The officials claimed that Soumya had an extramarital affair with Dilip, who is a physical education instructor at the same school. Ramesh and Soumya reportedly planned to kill him as a result of their frequent arguments about the affair. According to their plan, Dilip contacted his relative Abhishek, who stayed in Madapur village. Abhishek helped him hire a professional killer, Jitendra.

What did the police say?

As per the police, another three gang members were hired through him. Soumya paid the murderers an advance of Rs 35,000 and pledged her ring. In August 2025, when Ramesh was travelling from Armoor to Nizamabad, the contracted group allegedly attempted to crash a car into his bike, leading to the first murder attempt. Although Ramesh survived, after surviving the assault, Ramesh filed a report with Makloor police, which resulted in the opening of a case. But the suspect waited for another option to kill him. On 19th December, she called Dilip after he fell asleep. Dilip and Abhishek allegedly choked Ramesh with a towel and tried to kill him with a pillow in Borgam village when the professional killers failed to reach. After that, Ramesh couldn’t survive due to a heart attack. Soumya carried out the funeral ceremonies without raising any problems.

The case turned completely 360 degrees after Ramesh's brother Kethir interfered. He filed a case with the Makloor police from Israel because he doubted Ramesh's certain death. On December 24, in response to the complaint, police did a postmortem on Ramesh's body; as a result, officials found that Ramesh had been murdered. After investigations, police have arrested Dilip, Soumya, Abhishek, and other members of the gang. Police have sent them to judicial custody.
