Rapper Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, has come under legal scrutiny after a complaint was filed against his recently released Haryanvi track Tateeree. Police in Haryana’s Panchkula have registered a case over allegations that the song contains vulgar lyrics and objectionable visuals.
According to officials, the FIR was lodged at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Sector 20, Panchkula, following a complaint by social activist Abhay Chaudhary, a resident of Chandimandir.

Confirming the development, Panchkula Deputy Commissioner of Police Srishti Gupta said the rapper has been booked under Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with obscene acts and songs. He has also been charged under Sections 3 and 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, police said.
Complaint raises objectionable lyrics and school-themed visuals
In his complaint, Chaudhary stated that the music video of Tateeree, released by Badshah’s official YouTube channel on March 1, contains objectionable content in its visuals and lyrics, promoting such content in society.
According to his complaint, scenes featuring girls dressed in school uniforms are shown in the music video, which, according to him, are objectionable. Chaudhary also objected to the setting of the music video, as it looks like a school setting.
According to his complaint, the location shown in the video is referred to as “Badshala,” which, according to him, looks like a mispronunciation of the word “Pathshala” in Hindi, meaning school, and by showing such scenes in a school setting, the wrong message is being sent to society.
Haryana Women’s Commission takes note
The controversy has also drawn attention from the Haryana State Women’s Commission, which has reportedly taken cognisance of the matter and issued a notice seeking details. Some complainants have specifically objected to a lyric in the song that they claim objectifies women and minors. The commission is expected to review the video and its content as part of the inquiry.

Officials said the issue has raised broader concerns about how women are portrayed in music videos shared widely on social media platforms.
Police reviewing video as investigation begins
Police have stated that the matter is being investigated by Sub-Inspector Desraj from the Cyber Crime Police Station at Panchkula. At present, the authorities are examining the video and other online content to check if it has violated any provisions of the law.
Complainants have demanded that the offending content be removed from social media and that strict action be taken if any such violation is found.
At present, Badshah has not made any public comments on the FIR and the allegations leveled against the song, but the official video is no longer available on his official YouTube page.
