Kannada star Yash’s much-anticipated return to the big screen with Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups has been delayed. The film, which was earlier scheduled to release on March 19, will now arrive in cinemas worldwide on June 4, 2026.

The makers announced the decision on Wednesday, citing uncertainty in the Middle East following the recent US–Israel strikes on Iran.

In a statement shared by the production team, the makers said the film was envisioned as a global cinematic project and that the current geopolitical situation could affect its reach.

"Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups is a film we conceptualized with the vision to create cinema for a global audience. Filmed in Kannada and English, it is built with the conviction to connect with viewers both at home and across the world," the statement said.

The makers added that while they were excited to bring the film to audiences in March after years of work, the situation in the Middle East had forced them to reconsider the release strategy.

"However, the current uncertainty, especially in the Middle East, has created a situation that impacts our goal to reach and connect with the widest possible audience," the statement added.

New release date confirmed

The production team confirmed that the film will now hit theatres across the globe in English and multiple Indian languages on June 4, 2026.

“Therefore, in the interest of our partners and our audience, we have made the difficult but carefully considered decision to reschedule our release,” the statement said, thanking audiences for their patience and support.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the action drama also features a prominent ensemble cast including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria.

Toxic has generated considerable buzz since its teaser and first-look posters were unveiled, with the film being described as a stylised and violent action saga. The project also marks Yash’s first film release in four years after the massive success of the K.G.F franchise.

Solo window for Dhurandhar 2

The postponement may also reshape the box office calendar. The March 19 slot was expected to see a clash with Dhurandhar 2, the upcoming spy thriller starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar.

With Toxic moving to June, Dhurandhar 2 could now enjoy a solo theatrical release on the date, potentially giving the film a stronger opening at the box office.
