The makers of Drishyam 3 have officially announced the release date of the next instalment in the popular thriller franchise. Ajay Devgn will return as Vijay Salgaonkar when the film hits theatres on October 2, 2026, a date that carries strong symbolic value within the Drishyam universe.

The announcement was made on Monday through a brief promotional video, confirming that filming for Drishyam 3 is currently underway. The release will come four years after Drishyam 2, which was released in 2022 and went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year.

Alongside Devgn, key cast members from the earlier films are set to reprise their roles. Tabu will return as the relentless police officer Meera Deshmukh, while Shriya Saran and Rajat Kapoor are also back. Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav will once again play Vijay Salgaonkar’s daughters. There is no official confirmation yet on whether Akshaye Khanna, who played a pivotal role in Drishyam 2, is part of the third film.

The producers want to finish shooting during the first half of 2026, and filming is anticipated to continue into early 2026. Nearer to the release, information on the music launch and trailer will probably be revealed.

The Drishyam franchise began in 2015 with the Hindi remake of the Malayalam original, directed by the late Nishikant Kamat. The first film earned ₹197 crore worldwide, while Drishyam 2 surpassed it with a global collection of ₹345 crore. Both films centred on Vijay Salgaonkar’s use of intellect and planning to protect his family after a crime shakes their lives.

Drishyam 3 is directed by Abhishek Pathak and written by Abhishek Pathak, Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. The Malayalam version of Drishyam 3, starring Mammootty, is also expected to release in 2026.
