Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has approached the Delhi High Court seeking an urgent stay on the production, promotion and release of the upcoming film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy. The actor has alleged that the project infringes upon his personality and publicity rights.
The legal move comes shortly after promotional material and the film's teaser surfaced online. According to reports, Khan's petition seeks to prevent the filmmakers from proceeding further with the project until the court examines his claims.

Why has Salman Khan objected to the film?
According to reports of NDTV, Salman Khan's legal team argues that Kala Hiran is inspired by the actor's long-running blackbuck poaching case and contains elements that could lead audiences to identify the character with him. The petition reportedly alleges that promotional materials use references, imagery and character traits associated with the actor.
The actor has also objected to the alleged use of a lookalike character and references that could be linked to his public persona.
Personality rights at the centre of the dispute
As per NDTV, quoted in their report, Khan's legal team has argued that the film violates his personality rights and could potentially affect his reputation. Reports further suggest that the petition raises concerns about the ongoing legal proceedings related to the blackbuck case and the possibility of influencing public perception before a final judicial outcome.
Earlier this month, the actor had reportedly sent a legal notice to the filmmakers demanding the removal of promotional material and a halt to the project.
Makers maintain their stance
The film is produced by Amit Jani and directed by Bharat S. Shrinate. The filmmakers have previously denied wrongdoing and maintained that the project is inspired by real-life events and legal controversies rather than being an unauthorised portrayal of Salman Khan.
The legal battle is expected to determine whether the film can proceed with its planned release and promotional campaign.
