Ranveer Singh is reportedly gearing up for one of the biggest projects of his career. According to a report by Pinkvilla, the actor has acquired the rights to Amish Tripathi’s bestselling novel The Immortals of Meluha under his production banner Maa Kasam Film and has joined hands with Birla Studios to turn the mythological saga into a large-scale film trilogy.
Ranveer Singh reportedly to headline the trilogy as Lord Shiva
The adaptation is currently said to be in the writing phase, with Ranveer and Ananya Birla actively involved in shaping the project. If reports are to be believed, the makers are planning the franchise as a long-term cinematic universe spread across three films.
A source quoted by Pinkvilla said, “Ranveer has been passionate about bringing Meluha to the big screen for a long time now. The acquisition happened recently, and the project is now officially under development. Makers are approaching the franchise as a long-term cinematic universe and the plan is to tell the story over 3 films. The writing work has already begun, and the team is taking its time to crack the screenplay and world-building. The first part is expected to go on floors in 2028."

The report further claimed that Ranveer is expected to essay the role of Lord Shiva in the trilogy. While discussions around the remaining cast are yet to begin formally, the current priority appears to be script development and world-building.

What’s next for Ranveer Singh?
The actor is believed to have secured the adaptation rights for a significant amount, although no official figures have been revealed so far. Before stepping into the world of Meluha, Ranveer is reportedly set to begin work on Aditya Dhar’s next directorial project in March 2027.
He is also attached to Pralay, directed by Jay Mehta, which is tentatively expected to begin production in August 2026. However, the makers are yet to make a formal announcement regarding the project.

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh expecting second child
On the personal front, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are reportedly expecting their second child together. Recently, a leaked video from the South Africa shoot schedule of King surfaced online, showing a pregnant Deepika filming on set while Ranveer was seen nearby holding their daughter Dua.
A source close to the production told Pinkvilla, “It’s nice to see how supportive Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are to each other. While Deepika has been busy shooting for King in South Africa, Ranveer, even after ground-breaking success and putting together Pralay, is spending time with his little Dua. While Dua’s mommy is filming, he’s taking care of her."
