Years after the original story wrapped up and when fans thought the heists were over, Netflix has hinted that the world of Money Heist is still expanding. The streaming giant recently dropped a brief teaser that suggests another project tied to the franchise is already in development, reigniting excitement among fans of the global hit series created by Álex Pina.
The announcement, however, stopped short of revealing what exactly is coming next. Netflix has not confirmed whether the new project will be a fresh spin-off, a continuation of the original storyline, or an entirely different chapter set within the same universe.
Netflix says ‘the revolution isn’t over yet’
The teaser video revisits the journey of the franchise and includes the line, “It all began with money and then became gold and priceless treasures”. Another message in the clip states that the “revolution isn’t over yet”, strongly indicating that Netflix plans to keep the franchise alive beyond its original run.
The platform also shared a description reflecting on how the series evolved over the years. It referenced the progression from early robberies to larger, more ambitious heists involving gold reserves and high-security institutions, suggesting that the franchise still has room for new stories.
Berlin Season 2 arrives this month
For now, the clearest addition to the franchise slate is Berlin Season 2, which is scheduled to premiere on May 15. The spin-off serves as a prequel centred on Andrés de Fonollosa, popularly known as Berlin, played by Pedro Alonso.
The upcoming season reportedly shifts from Paris to Spain, where Berlin becomes involved in another elaborate robbery linked to the Duke of Málaga. Alongside Alonso, the cast includes Michelle Jenner, Tristán Ulloa, Inma Cuesta, José Luis García-Pérez and Marta Nieto. Returning characters such as Keila, Damián, Cameron, Roi and Bruce are also expected to continue their story arcs.
From Spanish drama to global streaming phenomenon
La Casa de Papel first premiered on Spain’s Antena 3 in 2017 before Netflix acquired global streaming rights. Over the next few years, the series transformed into one of the platform’s biggest international successes.

Led by Álvaro Morte’s portrayal of The Professor, the show built a massive fan following through its carefully planned heists, emotional character arcs and signature resistance theme.
Although Netflix has not shared further details about the newly teased project, the latest announcement makes one thing clear: the Money Heist universe is far from over.
