Speculation around Dhurandhar 2 continues to gather momentum, with fresh reports suggesting that Vicky Kaushal may be part of director Aditya Dhar’s upcoming sequel. While the makers are yet to make an official announcement, industry buzz indicates that the film could see a major crossover that expands the Dhurandhar universe.
Reportedly, the sequel is already headlined by Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal. Akshaye Khanna’s return is confirmed, largely through flashback portions. Now, Vicky Kaushal’s reported inclusion has added a new layer of intrigue.
Vicky Kaushal’s reported role
Mid-day cited a source who claimed that Vicky Kaushal is said to reprise his role of Major Vihaan Shergill from Uri: The Surgical Strike. “Aditya has been tight-lipped about the star power he is adding to Dhurandhar 2. The director, who plans to build the Dhurandhar universe, has smartly woven in a track from Uri despite the difference in the two stories' timelines. Vicky's character from the war drama, which is set in 2016, is introduced in this film, although it remains unclear whether he and Ranveer's character cross paths. The cameo includes a few action blocks”, the source told mid-day.

The report further adds that the appearance is not a blink-and-miss cameo and includes a few action sequences. “Vicky is one of Aditya's favourite actors. The director was only too happy to design sequences that laid the foundation for a spin-off in the future”, the source said. However, it remains unclear whether Vicky’s character shares screen space with Ranveer Singh’s role in the film. The move is seen as part of Aditya Dhar’s broader plan to create an interconnected cinematic universe.
Interestingly, the source also claimed that Vicky shot his portions last year, even before Dhurandhar was released in theatres. The sequences are said to quietly set the stage for potential future spin-offs.
A long-standing professional association
Vicky Kaushal and Aditya Dhar first collaborated on Uri: The Surgical Strike in 2019, a film that went on to win four National Awards and marked a major turning point in both their careers. The duo was later expected to reunite for The Immortal Ashwatthama, which was eventually shelved due to budget constraints.
