Veteran actor Pravina Deshpande passes away at 60 after long cancer battle

Veteran actor Pravina Deshpande, known for her roles in Ready and several popular TV shows, passed away at 60 after a long battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy across film and television.

Veteran actress Pravina Deshpande passed away on Tuesday, February 17, after battling cancer for a long time. She was 60 years old. The news of her death has been confirmed by her family through a statement on her official Instagram account.

Family confirms the news

In a note posted on Instagram Stories and as a separate post, her family wrote, “It is with great sadness that we inform you that Mrs Pravina Deshpande has left for her heavenly abode on 17th February 2026. Cremation will be held on 17th February at 3:00 pm. Location: Hindu Crematorium, Chakala Parsiwada, Andheri East-Aniruddha, Abhimanyu, Ruchira, Veer Deshpande."

The Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) also expressed grief over her passing. In a post on X, the association wrote, “CINTAA expresses its condolences on the demise of Pravina Deshpande ji (member since 2008).

She is survived by her family, who have confirmed her death through her Instagram account.

A career across film, television and theatre

Pravina Deshpande is known for her prolific career in the Indian film and television industry, with many notable films and TV shows in her repertoire. She has worked in many films that people can easily identify with, such as the films "Ready" with Salman Khan, "Ek Villain" with Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor, and "Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran" with John Abraham.

She has also worked in many popular TV shows such as Ghar Ek Mandir, Kumkum, Karam Apnaa Apnaa, and Kulfi Kumar Bajewala. She has remained active in the entertainment industry over the years, working in many films and TV shows in different genres.

Her last on-screen appearance was in Taskaree, featuring Emraan Hashmi.
