During his nearly half-hour speech, the Union Home Minister did not make any overt political remarks. Referring to the devotional movement initiated by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Shah spoke about spiritual consciousness and devotion. He said that both good and bad qualities exist within human beings, but when a person transcends their ego and becomes immersed in Krishna, everything turns positive. He added that consciousness awakens through the devotional remembrance of Krishnaâs name, and that such devotion dispels the darkness born of ignorance in the human mind.
He also referred to welfare considerations for the Matua community during his address.
