Actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna have announced scholarships for students of Classes 9 and 10 in 44 government schools in Telangana's Nagarkurnool district, days after their wedding.
The announcement was made during a puja ceremony at their residence in Hyderabad. The couple also visited their village home, where photographs from the event later circulated widely on social media.
The scholarship initiative will be implemented through the Deverakonda Charitable Trust, a voluntary organisation founded by Vijay Deverakonda. According to the actor, the programme aims to support students studying in government schools in the district.
Scholarship initiative announced
Vijay said the decision was taken as part of his commitment to contribute to education in his home region. Family members, including Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay's mother and brother, were present during the announcement.
The actor also stated that he plans to visit his village more frequently. He said his family home and surrounding land remain important to him and added that more initiatives are being planned in the near future.
No financial details of the scholarship programme have been disclosed so far.
Wedding and reception
The couple was married in Udaipur on February 26 in a private ceremony attended by close family and friends. A reception has been scheduled for March 4.

Guests from the Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil film industries have reportedly been invited to the reception.
The announcement of the scholarship programme comes shortly after their wedding celebrations. The couple had earlier indicated that they planned to undertake social initiatives following their marriage.
