With just over a month remaining until its theatrical release, Lucasfilm has unveiled the final trailer for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, marking the franchise's return to the big screen for the first time since 2019. The trailer’s tagline, “The old protect the young, and the young protect the old,” underscores the film's central relationship between the two beloved characters.
New Republic’s newest allies
Following the fall of the Empire, the fledgling New Republic struggles to contain scattered Imperial warlords. In response, they enlist the legendary bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young companion Grogu for a new mission. The trailer also shows the Mandalorian removing his helmet once again.

The film introduces Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward, a former Rebel pilot now leading New Republic operations. Jeremy Allen White voices Rotta the Hutt, while Martin Scorsese appears as an Ardennian chef. The story explores the pair's deepening bond.
Star-studded cast unveiled
The new preview offers the first extended look at Sigourney Weaver in the Star Wars universe. She plays Ward, a New Republic colonel and former Rebel pilot who dons the classic orange jumpsuit made famous in the original trilogy. Additional cast members include Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt and Martin Scorsese as an Ardennian chef.

The trailer also confirms the live-action debut of the fan-favourite bounty hunter Embo.
Directed by Jon Favreau and co-written with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to release exclusively in theatres and IMAX on May 22, 2026.
