According to recent reports, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace is currently stuck in a complicated approval procedure. The film has not yet been uploaded for the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), according to Midday.
As per News 18, a source revealed, “At this stage, after making the necessary changes, the team is trying to understand what would be the next steps to ensure its smooth release. No department, whether the Ministry of Defence, the Army, or the CBFC, has seen the film yet,"
Due to ongoing changes, the movie's scheduled April 2026 release date was pushed back. While there were rumours about a May 2026 release, the most recent information indicates that this schedule is no longer realistic. Creators have not revealed a new release date.
Apoorva Lakhia's film has allegedly received major edits. The story, which was initially based on actual events, was allegedly changed in response to Ministry of Defence demands.
Bollywood Hungama claims that around 40% of the movie was reshot, adding more romantic moments and backstory to make it seem better made up.

China connection
The removal of all references to China is another major change. According to reports, the Ministry specifically directed the creators not to set up the country.
“One of the requests to Salman Khan is that China shouldn’t be mentioned in the film. This was communicated to the makers in advance. The cut of Maatrubhumi, which was submitted earlier this month, has no mention of China."
