Actor Sydney Sweeney will not appear in The Devil Wears Prada 2, despite filming a cameo for the highly anticipated sequel. The scene was removed during the final edit following feedback from test screenings, according to a report by Variety.
Sweeney had reportedly shot a sequence alongside Emily Blunt, who reprises her role as Emily Charlton. In the scene, Charlton who is now heading Dior’s US operations, was shown styling Sweeney for a gala appearance. However, the sequence did not make it to the final cut.

Another cameo featuring Conrad Ricamora was also dropped from the film.
Why the scenes were removed
According to Variety, the decision followed audience reactions during test screenings. Viewers reportedly questioned certain narrative choices, particularly involving Andy Sachs’ personal life in the sequel.
Played by Anne Hathaway, Andy is now portrayed as a senior executive, nearly two decades after the events of the original film. Test audiences found it inconsistent for her character to have a roommate at this stage, leading to the removal of related scenes.
As a result, the film now focuses more on Andy’s dynamic with the character played by Tracie Thoms, streamlining the narrative.
Star-studded cameos remain intact
While Sweeney’s appearance did not survive the final edit, the sequel still features several high-profile cameos. Lady Gaga appears in the film and has also contributed to its soundtrack.

Backed by 20th Century Studios, the film is scheduled for a worldwide release on May 1, 2026.
