Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor's Peddi gets off to a blockbuster start

Ram Charan's sports drama Peddi opened strongly at the box office after registering impressive advance bookings and drawing crowds across key markets on release day.

Ram Charan's much-anticipated sports drama Peddi has made a solid start at the box office, backed by strong advance bookings and high audience interest across multiple markets. The film, directed by Buchi Babu Sana and co-starring Janhvi Kapoor, hit theatres on June 4 and has emerged as one of the biggest Telugu releases of the year.

Ahead of its release, the film had already generated significant momentum through advance sales. According to booking data quoted by NDTV, Peddi sold more than 3.8 lakh tickets nationwide before release, with the Telugu version accounting for the majority of the demand. Advance bookings crossed Rs 15 crore gross when block bookings were included, reflecting strong anticipation among moviegoers.

Advance bookings set the stage

The film's pre-release business was equally impressive overseas. As per NDTV profit ,Trade reports indicated that Peddi crossed Rs 35 crore in worldwide advance bookings before release, positioning it for a major opening. Strong ticket sales were reported across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and international markets, particularly North America.

The Andhra Pradesh government had also permitted special premiere shows ahead of the official release and approved a temporary ticket price increase, highlighting the scale of expectations surrounding the film.



Positive early audience response

Early audience reactions have largely been favourable, with many viewers praising Ram Charan's performance in the sports drama. Instagram discussions following the first screenings described the film as a "watchable entertainer," while several viewers highlighted the emotional climax and A.R. Rahman's music as key strengths.

The film has also attracted support from prominent members of the film industry. Director SS Rajamouli attended a screening in Hyderabad along with his family, while filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga was also present during the film's release celebrations.

Day 1 collection trends

According to NDTV, trade trackers reported that Peddi had already collected more than Rs 5 crore net in India during the early hours of its opening day, with final day-one figures expected to be substantially higher as evening and night shows conclude. Industry observers believe the strong advance sales and positive word-of-mouth could help the film maintain momentum through its opening weekend.

Featuring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles, Peddi marks Ram Charan's return to theatres after Game Changer and has opened amid considerable expectations from fans and the trade alike.
