Kannada Superstar Yash’s mother, Pushpalatha, has filed an FIR against five people, including film promoter Harish Arasu, at the High Grounds police station in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Manu, Nitin, Mahesh Guru and Swarnalatha add to the list of the accused.

However, Arasu allegedly demanded and received additional funds of about Rs 24 lakhs from the film producer. In total, Pushpalatha accused Arasu of cheating her out of Rs 64,87,700. She claimed that the promoter threatened the director, Sriraj, that if he asked for the accounts of the funds, he would go as far as de-promoting the film.

As per a report by Zee News, Pushpalatha told to media, "We remained silent and asked him for accounts after the shooting was completed. The accused again threatened the director and blackmailed him for more money. In this background, we obtained an injunction order from the court and lodged a police complaint.”

She added, “The blackmail began one week before the film’s release. Until now, he has not given any account of how the money was spent. His two associates spread propaganda claiming they did not receive any payment from Yash and his family.”

She alleged that two actors, Swarnalatha and Mahesh Guru had posted derogatory remarks about her online.

The Kothalavadi producer further made claims of not finding any promotional material available for the film on 1st August. Allegations of blackmail via calls were also made to the director.

Pushpalatha has requested legal remedy against the accused on account of cheating, intimidation, defamation and criminal conspiracy and stated recurrences of such frauds to have happened to many others.
