‘It was a very frightening': Subhashree Ganguly returns home after being stuck in Dubai due to Middle East conflict

Bengali actor Subhashree Ganguly safely returned to Kolkata after being stranded in Dubai with her son due to the ongoing West Asia conflict.

Bengali film star Subhashree Ganguly returned to Kolkata on Friday after being stranded in Dubai amid the ongoing West Asia conflict. The actor had travelled to the UAE with her son Yuvaan for a holiday, but faced travel disruptions as tensions escalated in the region.

Subhashree and her son arrived in Kolkata via Mumbai. They were received at the airport by her husband, filmmaker Raj Chakraborty, who is also a Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA.

Speaking to reporters after reaching the city, the actor described the situation in Dubai as extremely "terrifying".She said the experience had left her emotionally shaken.

“It was a very frightening situation. I am so devastated that I am not in a position to share my experiences right now. Thank you, everyone, for the love and support. It gave me strength in such a difficult time,” Ganguly said.

Subhashree had travelled to Dubai last Saturday for a short vacation with her son. However, their return flight to Kolkata scheduled for Wednesday night was cancelled due to the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran, which disrupted flight operations across parts of West Asia.

After being stranded for a few days, the actor was finally able to return to India and reach Kolkata safely on Friday.

Subhashree Ganguly is one of the most popular actors in the Bengali film industry. Over the years, she has appeared in several successful films, including Challenge (2009), Parineeta (2019), Shontaan (2024), and Grihapravesh (2025). She also received widespread appreciation for her performance in the web series Indubala Bhaater Hotel (2023).
