On February 21, International Mother Language Day, the state government released the list of recipients for the prestigious Bangabibhushan and Bangabhushan awards. The announcement was made on Saturday afternoon, with a total of 25 individuals and institutions receiving the honours this year.
The list features eminent personalities from the fields of music, literature, media and public life, along with two television channels that have been recognised for their contributions.

From the world of music, this year’s Bangabibhushan awardees include Shibaji Chattopadhyay, Nachiketa Chakraborty, Lopamudra Mitra, Babul Supriyo and Emon Chakraborty. Poet Srijato Bandyopadhyay has also been conferred with the Bangabibhushan honour.
Under the Bangabhushan category, noted musicians Manomoy Bhattacharya, Raghab Chattopadhyay, Rupankar Bagchi, Kartik Das Baul and Aditi Munshi have been honoured. Additionally, the state government has awarded the Bangabhushan recognition to television channels Star Jalsha and Zee Bangla.
